You can suggest a profile picture to a contact. They receive it, they see how it would look, and they decide whether to use it. Nothing changes unless they say yes.
It exists for one specific situation, and using it outside that situation is the fastest way to irritate somebody.
What you will be able to do
- check_circle Propose a photograph for somebody else's profile.
- check_circle Understand exactly what they see and control.
- check_circle Help somebody who cannot do it themselves.
- check_circle Know when to set a local one instead.
The suggestion arrives in the chat with a preview and an accept control; nothing happens without it.
send A proposal, not a change
The photograph appears in their chat as a suggestion they can look at and accept or ignore. If they accept, it becomes their real profile picture, visible to everybody. If they do nothing, nothing happens.
That consent step is the whole design, and it is what separates this from the local override, where you change what you see and say nothing. Here you are asking.
The obvious use is helping somebody who is not going to do it themselves: a relative who has never set a picture, a colleague using a default grey circle, somebody whose photograph is ten years old and who has mentioned it twice.
Four situations
Two are what the feature is for; two are not.

warning Where it lands badly
Suggest when you are helping them. Set a local one when you are helping yourself.

- Leave it there Accepting is their decision.
- Use a local photo instead for your own recognition It involves nobody.
- Do not repeat it Silence is an answer.
