How to Save Telegram Stories to Your Profile: Permanent Highlight Grids, Per-Story Privacy & Story Archive Management
A story can be kept on your profile after its day is up. It then sits in a grid there, visible to anybody who opens your profile, until you take it down.
At that point it stops being a story and becomes part of how you are presented, which is a different standard entirely.
What you will be able to do
- check_circle Keep a story on your profile or let it expire.
- check_circle Find and restore one that already expired.
- check_circle Curate the grid so it says something.
- check_circle Control who can see it there.
Kept stories appear as a grid on the profile, below the picture and the bio.
collections A profile is read, a story is glanced at
Somebody scrolling past a story gives it a second and forgets it. Somebody opening your profile is deciding something — whether to message you, whether you are who they think, whether to take you seriously — and the grid is part of what they are reading.
So the question to ask before keeping one is not whether it was a good story. It is whether you want it on the page somebody looks at before contacting you, alongside your name and your bio.
Expired stories are not lost either way: they go to your own archive, private to you, and can be restored to the profile later. Nothing has to be decided in the moment.
What belongs on the grid
The useful version treats it as a page rather than a scrapbook, and the two have almost opposite rules.
work Keep it on the profile
timer Let it expire
Judge a kept story as a page, not a moment. Six current ones beat sixty old ones.
settings Curating it
- Post the story with the audience you want That rule follows it to the profile.
- Choose to keep it From the story's own menu.
- Look at your profile afterwards As a stranger would.
- Remove one whenever you add one Keeping the grid short.
- Restore from the archive if you change your mind Expired is not deleted.
- Let anything with a location expire Rather than keeping it.
This page adds a grid to your profile. The curriculum step is the rest of that page: who sees your picture, showing a different one to strangers, and partitioning what the public half of an identity contains.
