How to Use the Telegram Rich Text Editor: 32,000-Character Longforms, Data Tables, Media Embeds & Privacy-First AI
There is an editor for writing something longer than a message: a canvas with headings, tables, quotes and images between the paragraphs, producing a piece that opens inside the app rather than at a link.
Which removes the reason most long posts get split into four messages — and raises the question of whether the thing you are writing belongs in a chat at all.
What you will be able to do
- check_circle Write something long without splitting it.
- check_circle Use structure that survives a phone screen.
- check_circle Decide when this is the right home for a piece.
- check_circle Know what you give up by keeping it inside.
Formatting applied as you write rather than through markers you have to remember.
edit_note The split-into-four-messages problem
Anybody who has posted something long knows the failure. The piece goes out as three or four consecutive messages, which arrive as three or four notifications, appear out of order in anybody's memory of them, and cannot be forwarded as one thing. Readers get the second part first if they scroll up, and the whole argument is harder to follow than it needed to be.
An editor that holds the whole piece removes all of that at once. One item, one notification, one thing to forward, and the structure that was in your head is actually in the document — headings where you meant headings rather than a line of capital letters.
That is the practical gain and it is bigger than it sounds for anybody who publishes regularly. Being able to write something properly is what stops long posts turning into short ones that leave out the reasoning.
Four things you might be writing, and where each belongs
The editor is right for some of these and quietly wrong for others.

It is a publishing tool. Anything that is still being decided belongs somewhere else until it is not.
link What you give up by keeping it inside
A piece published in the app is fast and pleasant to read and it is not a web page. It does not exist for a search engine, it cannot be found by anybody who is not already here, and it does not accumulate anything — no links pointing at it, no audience arriving from outside.
For most channel writing that is the right trade: the audience is the channel, and the piece is for them. For anything intended to reach people who have never heard of you, publishing only here quietly caps how far it can go, and the same words on a site you control would have kept working for years.
The arrangement that avoids choosing is unglamorous and common: publish properly where it belongs, then write a short version here with a link. The in-app piece is then the format for the things that are genuinely for this audience, which is what it is best at.
short_text Structure is not a substitute for editing
A canvas with headings and tables makes anything look considered, which is a trap. The most common result of giving people a better editor is longer writing rather than clearer writing, with the structure doing work the sentences should have done.
Two habits keep it honest. Write the piece, then remove a quarter of it before adding any formatting at all — whatever survives is what the structure should serve. And use a heading only where a reader would genuinely want to jump; three headings over eight paragraphs is navigation, one every paragraph is decoration.
The images are worth the same scrutiny. A picture between paragraphs earns its place if it shows something the text cannot describe. Put in to break up the page, it simply makes the page longer.
settings Writing one
- Use it for a piece, not a discussion One author, one version.
- Put the point in the first paragraph Length buys no patience.
- Cut a quarter before formatting Structure should serve what survives.
- Keep tables to two or three columns Phones decide the width.
- Pin anything meant as a reference The feed moves away from it.
- Announce corrections Silent edits reach nobody.
This page keeps a long piece inside. The curriculum step is the alternative: what happens when you link out instead, how a preview is built, and what a link tells the place at the other end of it.
