My bot or sticker set was banned unfairly, what do I do?

Write to abuse@telegram.org and explain the situation. If the ban affects a bot specifically, @BotSupport is the faster route. Appeals are read by people, so a clear, specific message is worth far more than a repeated one.

What to put in the appeal

  • The exact username of the bot, channel or sticker set, written as it appears, for example @examplebot.
  • What it does and who uses it, in one or two sentences.
  • When you noticed the restriction, and what you saw.
  • Anything that supports your case, such as the source repository, your website, or the account of the artist who made the sticker artwork.

Why restrictions are usually applied

  • Unsolicited messaging. A bot that contacts people who never started a conversation with it.
  • Reported content. Enough reports from users to trigger a review.
  • Copyrighted artwork. Sticker sets built from characters owned by someone else are the single most common cause.
  • Impersonation. A name or avatar close enough to an established brand or person to mislead.
  • Rate limits. A bot sending far faster than the Bot API permits can trip automated protections.

While you wait

Send one message and then leave it alone. Duplicate appeals from several addresses do not move the queue and make the thread harder to follow for whoever picks it up. If the cause was something you can fix, such as replacing artwork you did not have the rights to, fix it first and say so in the appeal. An appeal that describes a change already made is much easier to approve than one that promises a change later.

Building something new to replace a banned item without addressing the reason usually ends the same way. Identify the cause before you rebuild.
