Can I broadcast to a large audience?
Yes. That is what channels are for, and they have no subscriber limit. A channel is a one-way feed: administrators post, and everybody else reads.
Channel or group
| Channel | Group | |
|---|---|---|
| Audience size | Unlimited | Up to 200,000 |
| Who can post | Administrators only | Members, subject to permissions |
| Best for | Announcements, publishing, alerts | Conversation, community, support |
| View counts | Shown on every post | Not shown |
Creating one
- Tap the new message button and choose New Channel.
- Name it and add a description. The description is what a prospective subscriber reads before joining, so it is worth writing properly.
- Choose public or private. Public gets a t.me link and appears in search; private is invite-link only, and you can switch later.
- Post. Every post carries a view count and can be edited after publishing.
What a channel gives you beyond reach
- Editable posts. Correcting a mistake does not mean deleting and reposting.
- Silent delivery. Send without notifying, for anything that is not urgent.
- Scheduling. Queue posts for a chosen time.
- Discussion group. Attach a group so readers can comment underneath posts without turning the channel itself into a conversation.
