What is a Frozen Account?
A frozen account is one that has been restricted after reports from other users. While it is frozen you can still read your chats, but you cannot send messages or post anything.
What still works
| Works | Does not work |
|---|---|
| Reading your chats | Sending messages |
| Reading channels you follow | Posting to channels or groups |
| Access to your account and history | Contacting new people |
Nothing is deleted. The restriction limits what you can send, not what you have.
Appealing
- Open Telegram. The restriction notice includes the appeal option directly in the app.
- Submit the appeal. A moderator reviews the case.
- If the restriction was a mistake, the account is unfrozen.
What to say, and what not to
Explain concretely what your account was being used for. A moderator is deciding whether the reports describe what actually happened, so context is the useful thing to provide. Submitting the same appeal repeatedly does not speed up the queue, and creating a replacement account while an appeal is open works against you, because the pattern it creates is the one associated with evading a restriction rather than disputing one.
