Premium adds a set of stickers and reactions that only subscribers can send, and custom emoji that can be placed inside ordinary text. Everybody sees them; only subscribers can use them.
This is the decorative end of the subscription, and it is worth a page because one part of it is genuinely useful and the rest is worth knowing how to switch off.

Custom emoji sit inside the sentence rather than beside it, which is what distinguishes them from stickers.
emoji_emotions The one that is not decoration
Custom emoji are the interesting part. They are small images placed inside a line of text, so a community's own symbol can appear in a sentence rather than as a separate sticker taking up a whole message.
For a group with its own set, that is a real vocabulary: a project name, a status, a role, written into the message where it belongs. It reads naturally in a way a sticker cannot, because a sticker is always an interruption.
Everybody sees them, including people without Premium. What a non-subscriber cannot do is send one back, and tapping one offers them the subscription — which is worth knowing before you build a group's whole shorthand out of them.

Custom emoji earn their place; the rest is decoration. In a mixed group, use them as accents.
