A mini app no longer has to be closed to get back to a chat. Minimise it and it shrinks to a bar, the conversation returns, and the app is still running where you left it.
Several can sit there at once, which makes Telegram something closer to a small operating system than a messenger.

The behaviour it fixes is a real annoyance: you are halfway through something in a mini app, somebody messages you, and answering means losing your place. Now the app waits while you reply and comes back where it was.
The thing to carry away is the word running. A minimised mini app is a web page that has not been closed. Its session is alive, whatever you typed into it is still there, and anything it was doing it is still doing. That is what makes the bar useful and also what makes it worth clearing.
For anything involving money or an account, close it properly when you are done rather than leaving it minimised. A minimised shop is a shop you are still signed into, sitting one tap away from anybody who picks up your unlocked phone.
It is also worth remembering what a mini app is: a web page written by whoever runs the bot, displayed inside Telegram. Telegram provides the frame and the identity handshake; everything inside it is somebody else's site. Leaving several open is the same decision as leaving several browser tabs signed in, and deserves the same amount of thought.
