The photo picker is not only the strip of recent pictures. There is a control at the top that opens your gallery's actual albums, so you can go to screenshots, or downloads, or the folder from that trip, instead of scrolling back through a year of everything.

It is a small thing that removes the most tedious minute in the app.

What you will be able to do

  • check_circle Reach a specific album instead of scrolling the camera roll.
  • check_circle Send a file that is not a photograph at all.
  • check_circle Select several from different places without losing the selection.
  • check_circle Control how much of your gallery Telegram can see.

The album selector sits at the top of the picker, above the grid of recent pictures.

photo_library Your phone already sorted them

Every phone files pictures into albums by itself: camera, screenshots, downloads, saved images, whatever a camera app or an editor created. The picker can show those, which turns finding a screenshot from Tuesday into two taps rather than a long scroll.

The same attachment menu also reaches things that are not in the gallery at all. The file option opens your documents, and on a phone that is where anything downloaded from a browser or an email actually lives.

Selections survive moving between albums, so you can take two pictures from one place and a screenshot from another and send them together as one set.

You can limit what it sees Both mobile platforms let an app have access to selected photographs rather than the whole library. Telegram works either way; if you choose selected access, you pick which pictures it can offer and the picker shows only those.

Four things to find faster

Each has a route that is not the camera roll.

smartphone The one you took an hour ago

check_circle Open the album selector and go to screenshots. They are the most sent and the most annoying to find among photographs.
check_circle Consider sending a screenshot as a file rather than compressed — text and thin lines are what compression damages most.
check_circle Crop it before sending. Half a screenshot is usually the half that matters.

Stop scrolling the camera roll. The album selector and the file option cover almost everything.

settings In the picker

  2. Tap the album selector at the top Your phone's own albums are listed.

This page is finding the file. The curriculum step is what happens to it on the way: compression against originals, size limits, streaming media back from the cloud, and keeping a media archive worth having.
