Your color on your name and replies
In groups, each member's name color is normally assigned automatically. With Telegram Premium you choose it yourself, and you can combine two colors. The color you pick shows in three places together: your name in groups, the border of link previews you send, and the header of replies that quote your messages. You can also add a faint pattern of small icons to the background of those replies. Free users see all of it.

Choosing a name color that works

Changing your name color
On a computer, open Main menu (☰) › Settings › Chat Settings and tap your name color to open the preview window; on Android, Settings tab › Chat Settings › Change Name Color; on iOS, the bottom Settings tab › Appearance and the name color setting. Without Premium you can open the preview and try colors, but applying the style is locked.
- Open the appearance settings: Chat Settings on Android and PC, Appearance on iOS.
- Go to the name color setting and the Name tab.
- Pick a color, or a two-color mix.
- Choose an icon with Add Icons to Replies. It sits faintly behind quotes.
- Check the preview and tap Apply Style. Then open a real group and check it in both themes.
FAQ
Can free Telegram users see my Premium name color?
Yes. Everyone in the chat sees your name color and reply icons.
Can I change my name color without Premium?
You can open the preview and try colors, but applying the style requires Premium.
Why can people not read my name color?
