Putting both of you in the same room
A chat wallpaper normally changes only your own screen. With Telegram Premium you can apply the wallpaper of a one-to-one chat on the other person's screen as well: photos, built-in patterns and gradients all work, and the blur and motion settings go along. The other person does not need a subscription. The everyday steps and when it suits are in setting a wallpaper for both sides.

Once applied, a notice stays in the chat that the wallpaper was changed. The other person can tap it to keep it, choose another one, or go back to their own. It works more like an offer than an order.

Applying a wallpaper to both sides
On a computer, open the ⋮ menu at the top right of the chat and choose to set a wallpaper; on Android, the chat menu (⋮) › Change Wallpaper; on iOS, tap the person's name and use the menu on their info screen.
- Open a one-to-one chat. Groups are not supported.
- Open Change Wallpaper from the chat menu.
- Pick a photo or pattern, and set blur and motion.
- Choose the option to apply it for you and the other person instead of Apply for Me. That choice is the Premium feature.
- Look at the notice in the chat. The other person keeps or reverts it from there.
FAQ
Does the other person need Telegram Premium to see a both-sides wallpaper?
No. Only the person applying it needs Premium.
Can the other person remove a wallpaper I applied?
Yes. They can keep it, pick another one or return to their own from the notice in the chat.
Can I set a wallpaper for both sides in a group?
No. It works only in one-to-one chats.
