The sticker panel has a trending section, and next to it a search box that takes words as well as emoji. Between them you can find a pack for almost any feeling in about five seconds.
The harder part is afterwards. Adding packs costs nothing and it is the reason most people's sticker panel has become unusable.
What you will be able to do
- check_circle Find a sticker by searching instead of scrolling.
- check_circle Try a pack before committing to it.
- check_circle Reorder and prune the packs you keep.
- check_circle Tell a real pack from a pack that is advertising something.
Trending sits at the top of the panel, and a pack can be previewed in full before it is added to anything.
search Search first, browse second
Typing in the sticker panel searches across packs rather than only the ones you have. An emoji finds stickers that express it, a word finds packs named for it, and the results include things you have never added.
Typing an emoji straight into the message box does something similar on most clients: matching stickers from your own packs are offered above the keyboard, which is faster than opening the panel at all.
Tapping a pack opens the whole thing before you commit. That preview is the step worth using — a pack is usually chosen from one good sticker and turns out to contain thirty you would never send.
Four things to do with the panel
One is finding, one is keeping, one is pruning, and one is knowing what you are looking at.
search By word or by emoji
reorder The order is yours
delete_sweep The panel has become useless
verified_user Who made it and why
Search to find, preview before adding, and keep the panel short enough to be usable.
settings Working the panel
- Open the sticker panel and use the search box Words and emoji both work.
- Look at trending occasionally Rather than treating it as a list to work through.
- Tap a pack to preview it in full Before adding anything.
- Favourite individual stickers The fastest route to the ones you actually send.
- Reorder your packs in the settings Most used at the top.
- Remove or archive the rest Twice a year is enough.
This page is finding other people's packs. The curriculum step is making your own: what a set needs to be usable, the design constraints, custom emoji for a community, and why a good pack is an identity rather than a novelty.
