The short answer
- 1Disable Sharing stops forwarding, copying and saving in a one-to-one chat, for both people.
- 2It is a real barrier inside Telegram, but a second phone can still photograph the screen.
- 3Add a short reason when you turn it on, or it can read as distrust.

Content protection for one conversation
Channels and groups have long been able to stop members from forwarding and saving. Telegram Premium brings the same control to one-to-one chats: Disable Sharing turns off forwarding, copying and saving media for both people in that chat. The full walk-through, including what the other person sees, is in turning off saving in a private chat.
- Disable Sharing - the feature as Telegram describes it in Settings › Telegram Premium
Opened from Settings › Telegram Premium by tapping the feature. This is Telegram's preview page; the setting itself lives where the steps below say.
It applies to the conversation, not just to your messages. Both of you lose the ability to forward or save, and the other person can see that the chat is protected.
When Disable Sharing makes sense
| Situation | Fit |
|---|---|
| Sharing a document or photo that should not travel further | Good. It removes the one-tap forward that spreads things by accident |
| A conversation you might need as evidence later | Poor. It stops you saving it too |
| With someone you do not trust at all | Not enough. A second phone defeats it; do not send what must not leak |
| Everyday chats with friends | Usually unnecessary, and without a word of explanation it can read as suspicion |
Its real effect is social as much as technical. Add a one-line reason when you turn it on, such as "work documents in this chat", and it reads as care rather than distrust.
Turning it on
- Open the one-to-one chat and open its menu (⋮ on Android and computers, the person's name on iOS).
- Choose Disable Sharing. On a free account the option asks for Premium.
- Tell the other person why in a short message.
- Turn it off from the same menu when it is no longer needed.
- Disable Sharing - protects the whole conversation, for both people
