Groups have boosts too. Members with Premium can spend one on the group, levels accumulate, and each level opens something for everybody in the room rather than for the person who paid.
The requirement scales with how many members there are, so a small group reaches a level that a large one has to work for.

The design is unusual and worth stating plainly. A member with a subscription gives something they hold to the group; what it buys is not for them. A transcription unlock means everybody in the room can read voice messages as text, including the members who pay for nothing.
That makes boosting closer to a contribution to a shared space than to a purchase, and it is why the booster badge beside a name is not merely decoration. It is the visible half of a small act of generosity, and communities that acknowledge it get more of it.
The threshold moving with member count is the other thing to understand. A group of fifty can reach a useful level on a handful of boosts; a group of ten thousand needs proportionally more, so growth does not make unlocks easier.
