A channel is not a large group. Only admins can post, everybody else reads, and there is no ceiling on how many of them there are. That asymmetry is the whole design and it changes what the admin controls need to do.
Where a group's permissions are about restraining members, a channel's are about dividing the work of publishing between people without handing any of them the keys.
What you will be able to do

campaign One-way, and unlimited
Subscribers cannot post. They can read, forward, react, and comment if a discussion group is linked — and there is no practical limit on how many of them there are, which is the reason channels exist at all.
Posts are attributed to the channel rather than to a person by default. A setting turns on signatures, adding the author's name to each post, which suits a channel with several writers and is wrong for one that speaks with a single voice.
Everything else follows from being a publication rather than a conversation: scheduled posts, edits that stay possible indefinitely, statistics once the audience is large enough, and a public handle that is the address people share.

Channel admins should have post and edit, comment moderators should be admins of the group instead, and only one person needs anything more.
settings Setting a channel up
- Create it and decide public or private A public handle is the address people share; private means an invite link you control.
- Write the description It is what somebody reads before subscribing, and it is the only thing they have.
- Set signatures before the first post Changing it later leaves the archive inconsistent.
- Add admins with the narrowest rights that work Post and edit for writers.
- Link a discussion group if you want comments And give its moderation to people who are not necessarily channel admins.
- Set a cloud password on the owner account Today, because the transfer requirement counts from when it was set.
