Styling the page people open
Your name color dresses your name and replies inside chats. Your profile color styles the page people see when they open your profile. With Telegram Premium the top of the profile can carry a gradient in your chosen colors, with a pattern of custom emoji behind it, and buttons and tab underlines follow the same color. Free users see it exactly as you set it.
The two are set separately. The chat color is in Premium name colors, and changing either with a collectible gift is in collectible gift colors. The everyday steps are in changing your profile color.
Choosing a profile color and pattern
| Choice | What to aim for |
|---|---|
| Match the photo | The header wraps around your photo, so a color next to the photo's main color looks natural |
| A faint pattern on one theme | A single set, such as a game, a film or a favorite character, says something about you; a mix says nothing |
| Both themes | Look at the preview on light and dark screens |
| Readable bio | The pattern sits in the header; make sure your username and bio are not buried under it |
- Profile and Name are separate tabs
- The color grid - the bottom row is two-tone
- Add Icons to Profile - a pattern made from a custom emoji
- Apply Style - nothing changes until you tap this
Collectible gifts you own can also be used as a profile cover; this test account has none.
Channels can use the same profile styling once their boost level is high enough; the channel side is in customizing a channel's appearance.

- Choose a pattern with Add Icons to Profile, from your custom emoji packs.
- Preview it in both themes, then tap Apply Style.
- Open your own profile and check that your username and bio still read clearly.
